Virmari
Garcia-Davila

Painting

Virmari’s painting practice focuses on archiving the lives of her immigrant parents and cultures to show the true American dream as a child of immigrants. She uses materials embedded with the history of labor and the domestic to form dialogues with the images. She values the preservation of stories of immigrants and her cultures of Guatemala and Nicaragua. Textiles, domestic labor, decay, photographs of her daily life, and the untold stories of immigrants still alive influence her work.
