Yamilet’s work focuses on her personal history and identity through photography. Growing up as a Latin American, dissecting her memories, emotions, and family narrative is crucial in understanding herself and her heritage. Her depictions of sites of cultural importance capture her interests in abstraction, storytelling, light, and shadows. Her recent work, The Eyes Before Me (Mi Madre), utilizes jigsaw puzzles to explore her relationship and history with her mother.
